How To Use Free Software To Track Online Traffic To Your Web Site - Part 1

Mon, 8th December, 2008 - Posted by admin - (0) Comment

There are many ways to track the traffic to the web site.

Some of them are free, some are paid services.

Why do you want to track your traffic?

The reason is simple:
So that you can know exactly where do most of the traffic to your web site or blog are coming from, and you will want to spend on your precious time on targetting and advertising on the places that are bringing you the most amount of traffic in order to give you the best, maximum results. Knowing your web site traffic statistics will allow you to capitalise on the best marketing strategies and drop those ineffective strategies after you have tested them out!

This is especially important if you are paying for your advertising and you want to make sure that you are stretching your often-limited advertising dollars to the maximum for best ROI results for your web site.

We will discuss about Google Analytics, a free traffic tracking service from Google that is available to all advertisers, publishers, and site owners.

Google Analytics helps you find out what keywords attract your most desirable prospects, what advertising copy pulled the most responses, and what landing pages and content make the most money for you.

It is easy to use for novice marketers, while delivering all of the capabilities that experienced web analytics professionals expect.

Google Analytics helps to track all online campaigns, from emails to keywords, regardless of search engine or referral source.

It also has all the features you would expect from a high-end analytics offering. It provides tightly integrated AdWords support as well, so you can view AdWords ROI metrics without having to import cost data or add keyword tracking codes.

I am using this for myself as well and I love it, especially when it gives me information about where my traffic are coming from so that I can focus my time on what has been working for me. The best part of it is that Google Analytics is FREE!!

You can sign up here for Google Analytics.

The implementation process is very simple:

Sign up for Google Analytics, give Google your web site address, and Google will give you a small piece of code which you can just copy and paste onto each of your web pages.

If your web site is running on a “template-based” structure (e.g. the world’s most popular blogging platform, WordPress), just copy it once into your main web page template and you are done!

BINGO! It’s super easy!

Google Trends is now available in Singapore. It is the 3rd country outside of the USA, after India, to have it. It allows one to check on the search trend based on location.

You can find out more about Google Trends Singapore at http://www.google.com.sg/trends

I have used Google Trends in the past to locate where are most of my searches for my targeted market coming from. This allows me to know where my prospects are located so that I can do geographical based marketing.

I know it can help you too!
